Touching on Traditions presented by Elgin Public Museum
Touching on Traditions is the Midwest’s largest authentic culturally-inclusive winter holiday display. It features lights, costumes, decorated trees, and objects of traditional importance to people representing over 50 countries who have made their homes in Elgin.
Group tours available. Call the Elgin Public Museum for details.
The exhibit may be closed for portions of the day during open hours due to school programs. The best time to visit the exhibit is after 2:30 in the afternoon on school days.

Back by popular demand, the award-winning HOMES FOR THE HOLIDAYS TOUR presented by NENA will feature six magnificent historic homes trimmed in their holiday finery!
Begin the holiday season with unique architecture, terrific holiday decorating ideas, and the warmth of the holiday spirit, Elgin-style. New this year, the tour will feature homes on Elgin’s Near West neighborhoods. Previously, this grand event has been the proud recipient of the Mayor’s Award from the City of Elgin, the Elgin Image Award, and the Governor’s Award of Excellence from the State of Illinois.
The HOMES FOR THE HOLIDAYS TOUR 2005 featured homes are:

Beginning November 1st, tickets are available in advance for $10 each at the following Elgin locations: Al’s Café and Creamery, Books at Sunset, Jewel Food Stores (Summit Street & Larkin Avenue locations only), and Zeigler Ace Hardware (Spring Street & Lillian Street locations). Same day tickets will be available at the event registration site for $12 each. Ticket prices include a guided tour at each house location, transportation to each house on an old fashioned trolley and complimentary parking at the registration site.

We just received word that Santa Claus will be transforming the Village Hall into his Winter Wonderland. Visit Santa Claus and his elves, have your picture taken, play games, make crafts and take home some holiday cheer at Winter Wonderland. Be sure to stop by Santa’s mailbox and write him a letter too! All children will receive one photograph of themselves with Santa. There is no preregistration for this event. Parents will be admitted FREE of charge with a paying child. Each child is $5.

Winter Break Camp
Winter Break Camp is a frosty fun adventure! This event is a whole week of Day Off Camps! Day Off Camp is a fun-filled day provided by the Elgin Public Museum on days when school districts don’t have school. We will play games, do crafts and explore the park. If there is snow on the ground we will even go sledding! Normal Camp runs from 10 am to 3 pm. We are offering extended camp from 8:30-10 am and 3-5:30 pm for an additional fee. If you can’t find a sitter or the kids are bored on days off send them to Day Off Camp! Cost is $15 per day. Individual day sign up, entire week is not required. Ask about our multiple day discount. Extended camp is an additional $5 for each session (AM or PM).
