The Hayloft Gang: Story of the National Barn Dance

Stephen Perry, producer of the 2011 documentary The Hayloft Gang ,will bring to life the Chicago based National Barn Dance radio program with a not to miss presentation based on the documentary. The radio program, which was started on WLS in 1924, was a touchstone for many growing up till its end in 1960. According to author Dick Bowden WLS “wanted a music program that “sounded like home.” The program used nostalgia even in 1924, reminding folks of “our farm communities of yesteryear.”…the show prided itself that millions were listening TOGETHER over 4 hours each Saturday night. The cast became familiar friends nicknamed the Hayloft Gang.” Come learn more about this influential radio program that introduced audiences to Gene Autry, inspired Bill Monroe and created imitators like the Grand Ole Opry!
