The City of Elgin presents Elgin OPERA Goes Hollywood!
01/21/2011 – Celebrate with us in grand Hollywood style Elgin OPERA’s 10th Anniversary! Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 7:30 pm at the Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way, Elgin, IL 60120 Elgin Opera Goes Hollywood! An Opera Gala Concert of Music Heard in the Movies Sung in original languages with English Supertitles Maestro Francesco Milioto will lead the New Millennium Orchestra, Elgin Choral Union, Elgin Children’s Chorus, and soloists in excerpts from La Traviata, Madama Butterfly, Don Giovanni, Aida, Turandot, I Pagliacci, Marriage of Figaro, Il Trovatore, Nabucco, Norma, and more. Cast will include: Solange Sior, Soprano (Elgin), Saira Frank, Soprano (Waukesha, WI), Susan Dennis, Soprano (Bartlett), Jonathan Burton, Tenor (Minford, OH), Cornelius Johnson, Tenor (Chicago), Aaron Wardell, Baritone (Chicago), and Ghibong Kim, Baritone (Arlington Heights & Vocal Instructor at Judson University), The conductor, Francesco Milioto, has been named by the Chicago Tribune as ‘one of the best young conductors working in the Chicago area.’ TWINKLE STARS AT THE HEMMENS Preceding the performance entertainment will be provided in the lobby by the youngest members of the Elgin OPERA Training & Performing Ensemble. Elgin OPERA is very proud of its unique Ensemble. The talent and professionalism of these young soloists (8 – 20 years old) will amaze you as they perform music that has been heard in the movies. Photos will take place in the lobby of the Hemmens prior to the performance and during the intermission.
