Elgin Area Convention and Visitors Bureau Goes Social Media

03/18/2009 – Now, potential visitors, tournament directors, and meeting planners can interact with their destination of choice a little more directly. The Elgin Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (EACVB) has voyaged into the realm of Social Media by starting a Facebook page and creating a Twitter account among others.
“Social Media, Web 2.0, whatever you want to call it, its here.” states Brent Edwards, Director of Marketing for the EACVB. “It’s fascinating to see just how fast these tools are used by the public. They are wonderful resources to have that allow your end users a chance to leave messages, keep updated with events, start forums of their own, watch videos, and more.” continued Edwards.

The EACVB started experimenting with Social Media in 2008 by developing online videos that can be seen on Youtube.com and the Bureau’s website at www.northernfoxrivervalley.com. Since then, the Bureau has moved on to Facebook.com and Twitter. With Twitter you can follow the Bureau week to week and catch-up on events, releases, and just day-to-day activity. The Bureau can even follow other professionals that make sense for the tourism industry that can give benefit to the public.
You can find the Elgin Area Convention and Visitors Bureau on Facebook.com by searching for Elgin Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
