 Jerry Stangl

I strive to present the many varied moods of the seasons and times of day in my paintings. I work mainly by recall and seek to transmit to the viewer the impression of subjects, be they natural or man-made, realistic or abstract.

My paintings include landscapes, structural compositions, abstracts, and figures. The paintings are done in watercolor and mixed media.

The Lord’s creation is the inspiration for much of my work.

I was the recipient of “The William Church Osborne Memorial Award” in the 106th Annual Exhibition of the American Watercolor Society in New York City. I was awarded the “Best of Mixed Media” in the 2009 Art in the Barn Exhibition in Barrington, Illinois.

I was also a finalist winner in the Artist Magazines’ 2000 Art Competition and have been the recipient of numerous other awards.

Our home is in a great place that dates back to 1855.  You are always welcome at River Trading Post, to browse, to relax and read and to enjoy a cup of Cowboy Coffee.  And, of course, to enjoy one of the finest collections of Native American art anywhere in the Chicagoland area.

You might enjoy spending some quiet time in our upstairs gallery looking at the images of some of the finest photographers around, including our Edward Curtis collection.  And maybe you’ll find yourself thumbing through one of the many books in our Native American library.

The Lab at Side Street Studio Arts is a shared artist space.
