The mission of the Elgin Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is to enhance the economic and environmental well-being of the 9 communities in the Northern Fox River Valley through marketing the area.

 The communities we represent are:

  1. Bartlett
  2. Carpentersville
  3. East Dundee
  4. Elgin
  5. Gilberts
  6. Hampshire
  7. Sleepy Hollow
  8. South Elgin
  9. West Dundee

We have three key responsibilities:

  1. We encourage groups to hold meetings, conventions, tradeshows, sporting events and group travel in the 9 communities of Chicagoland’s Northern Fox River Valley.
  2. We assist groups with preparations and while their meeting or event is in progress.
  3. We encourage tourists to visit and enjoy the many historic, cultural, retail, dining and recreational opportunities the Northern Fox River Valley offers.

One of our key goals is to attract overnight visitors, so our marketing, advertising and promotional efforts are primarily focused within 250 miles of the Elgin Area.

Our history

The Elgin Area CVB was formed in 1984 by the City of Elgin and local business leaders. The Elgin Area CVB has since grown to include the 9 communities of the Northern Fox River Valley, spanning Kane, McHenry, Cook and DuPage Counties.

The Northern Fox River Valley has over 1,100 hotel rooms and hundreds of entertainment, dining, shopping, retail and cultural options for visitors to enjoy and experience.
