Bikes and Bites

Bikes and Bites is an event sponsored by us – The Elgin Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. It will be Saturday, May 30th from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM on Riverside Drive. The bikes portion is to showcase the Fox River Bike Trail and to promote bike safety. The bites portion is for all of the food trucks we will have on Riverside Drive here in Downtown Elgin.

In addition, there will be farmers markets in the area coming to Riverside. They’ll put up their fresh produce on the anticipated, beautiful day. We have a Kid’s Corner setup with crafts and bike decor for the whole family sponsored by YWCA. In addition to the wonderful crafts, The Elgin Symphony Orchestra has instruments for the kids to tinker with. Speaking of the family…animals are a part of families too right? Well – we will have an animal adoption station at the event too. You can play with the animals while you enjoy the weather.

While you’re wandering around checking out the food and bike coral, play a game of bags. They’ll be a mini-tournament run by Elgin Young Professionals Network, so get your best team together. Need more entertainment? We’ve got you covered with street performers like Dave Newton.

You don’t want to miss this new event that partners with many organizations and business in the area to celebrate summer biking and great food!

About the Author: Shalina Wozny I am a communications intern for EACVB. I really like being the “middle man” and finding a way to bridge the gap between people. I like exploring new cities, eating a good bowl of pasta, and having anything sweet for dessert – dessert is a must for me! Fall is my favorite season; the leaves changing color fascinate me.
