Job Title: Sales and Services Coordinator for the Elgin Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (EACVB)
Reports To: President/CEO
Job Summary: Sales and Services Coordinator is responsible for the overall group sales efforts for the Elgin Area Convention & Visitors Bureau with the overall performance goal to increase the number of visitor overnight stays in the Elgin Area.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Achieve performance goals as established by the President/CEO for sales activity in all group sales segments
Ensure the sports market in the Elgin Area continues as a viable and growing market segment for the CVB
Maintain an inventory of sports facilities and develop working relationships with the managers of these facilities and maximize the use of these facilities
Develop and implement appropriate sales tools to attract all group sales segments to bring events to the area including direct sales, trade show attendance, sales missions, bid presentations, familiarization tours and site visits
Monthly reporting of sales efforts with tangible results including sales leads to area hotels
Responsible for identifying and securing sponsorships for CVB events and initiatives
Oversee the CVB’s Sports Commission activities and initiatives including bi-monthly meetings with Commission members
Assist with event implementation throughout the year
All other duties as assigned by the President/CEO
General Duties
Assist as a connector between partners, visitor impacted businesses, events and hotels to market and sell to the potential overnight visitors
Assist in developing and maintaining a positive image of EACVB in the eyes of the all individuals, partners, stakeholders and organizations and networking within the service area
Maintain Constant Contact sales database
Other day-to-day activities to accomplish the goals and mission of the bureau
Assist in special projects and assignments requested by the President/CEO
Requirements
Proficient use of computers including: Word, Excel and Power Point
Possession of an undergraduate degree is preferred; DMO/CVB experience extremely helpful
Excellent organizational, interactive and oral communication skills
Excellent sales skills – strong command of grammar usage and vocabulary
High attention to detail
Strong professional appearance and demeanor
Occasional overnight travel and evening or weekend work will be required
Ability to work well with others and handle frequent interruptions while performing multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to exercise judgment and diplomacy in a wide variety of public contact situations
Possess a valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach with hands and arms
Vision abilities required by this job include color vision and ability to adjust focus and to sustain prolonged visual concentration as well as hand-eye coordination in order to operate computers and office equipment
Ability to read and understand and ability to express ideas clearly, both orally and in writing
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to be accountable for productive use and organization of time spent
Ability to accurately and thoroughly carry out functions requiring attention to details and organizational skills for filing and record keeping both physical and electronic
