General Impressions of the Civil War
Author Robert I. Girardi takes a unique look at generals who led the armies of the Civil War and lets them give their impressions and opinions of each other in their own words. At the outbreak of the Civil War, the U.S. Army had only 5 generals. By the end of the war, more than 1,000 men served as generals for the Union and confederacy. These men learned their duties on the job. This a unique look at many of the Union and Confederate generals who led the armies of the Civil War. Here, in their own words, are their impressions and assessments of each other. Whether they loved or hated each other, the generals were not shy about expressing their opinions of one another. The result is a multi-dimensional view of many of the war's most famous, and most obscure leaders. Please register. 7 - 8:30 pm Elgin Room

Spies and Spying in the Civil War
As the war began, neither side had an espionage or military intelligence system. But, by the summer of 61, the Confederates had begun to fashion a spy network - the North would wait until the shooting started. Like nearly every aspect of the War, at its beginning, on both sides, amateurs stepped up to develop the desperately needed spy organizations and networks. An exciting and informative presentation for all audiences featuring the illustrations of acclaimed artist, Jim Weren Reservations recommended. May 4, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Century Memorial Chapel
