GVC Concert: MARSHALL TUCKER BAND, MOLLY HATCHET, THE OUTLAWS, AND ARTIMUS PYLE BAND
The Marshall Tucker Band got its start in 1972 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, borrowing the name "Marshall Tucker" from a piano tuner whose name was found on a key ring in their old rehearsal space. For years, the MTB has played sheds, stadiums, theaters, fairs, and festivals, wowing critics and fans alike with their definitive blend of rock, rhythm & blues, jazz, country, and gospel and hits like "Can't You See." Formed in 1975, Jacksonville's Molly Hatchet meld loud hard rock boogie with guitar jam-oriented Southern rock. Their self-titled debut went platinum in 1978, and the follow up "Flirtin' With Disaster" went on to become one of the best recognized Southern rock albums of all time. For 40 years, Southern rock legends The Outlaws have celebrated triumphs, endured tragedies, and survived legal nightmares to remain one of the most influential and best-loved bands of the genre. Songs like "Green Grass and High Tides Forever" have defined Southern rock for a generation. Original Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer Artimus Pyle and his band bring more than just the ultimate tribute to Ronnie Van Zant's Lynyrd Skynyrd, they bring a high-energy, true to the music, and true to the era show. Ticket prices Lawn $19, Queen $39, King $59, Ace $79

Jazzin' on the 8th
The Elgin Cultural Arts Commission presents: Jazzin' on the 8th! A night of swing, Latin jazz and dancing with music presented by: The James Sanders Blue Violin Quartet featuring Alison Ruble. James Sanders: violin, Kevin O'Connell: piano, Jim Cox: bass, Mike Jeffers: drums, Alison Ruble: vocals. The Blue Violin Quartet is the culmination of a two decade plus exploration of the art of jazz. The Quartet performs an eclectic yet swinging mix of tunes ranging from bop to Great American songbook standards written by Wes Montgomery, Miles Davis, Jerome Kern, Richard Rodgers and others. GVC Concert: Deep Purple
With an ever-increasing fan base, picking up new listeners around the world thanks to their drive to tour familiar and less-traveled places, its no wonder Deep Purple operates on fresh cycles of adrenalin. Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Steve Morse and Don Airey, Mark VIII of the band, continue to travel the scope of hard rock the textures and nuances of recent works are anything but thudding retreads. The latter-year Purple has moved progressively into new areas, piquing fans interest who were not born when the mighty Purple machine ruled the music worlds money trees. Their holy grail of In Rock (1970) Machine Head (1972) and Made In Japan (1973) catapulted Deep Purple to the top in concert grosses and album sales around the world. Smoke On The Water ascended to mega-status simply a perfect track. Having amassed so many songs that get coined under the classic moniker, set lists have been a never-ending debate among diehards and newer fans. But Deep Purple have been more than in synch with fans tastes to remain a powerful drawing force since their formation in 1968. These days, happy faces reside from both the stage and audience. When the music is this good, smiles reign supreme.
